Building Consent Authorities Accreditation

Changes to the Building Act presented challenges to local authorities to establish processes and gain accreditation. Earthquake-prone Buildings Policy

Changes in the Building Act also meant changed expectations of the seismic performance of Buildings. We assisted Wellington City Council to develop its policy, focusing on the timing of strengthening requirements. The result is a strategy which balances public safety with working expectations in the property market.

Emissions Trading Scheme

The Government wanted to create incentives to allow New Zealand industry to meet its Kyoto Protocol obligations. We worked with the Ministry of the Environment, Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and The Treasury on what the implications of different policy options would mean for New Zealand industry and how they would operate in the commercial environment. The result was a policy framework which meant the Government could understand where the risk and challenges of the policy roll out would impact local industry.

The result was moves toward a streamlined process and an understanding of the realities of the system operating in the small towns and large cities
